Personal Biography

Working with the written word is my passion.  I have devoted over 35 years to it and enjoy it immensely.

My most recent project was editing an early draft of Aggie & Mudgy, by Wendy Proverbs, published in 2021 by Heritage House. My experience includes editing legislative debates and parliamentary committees for Hansard Services, which produces the official record of provincial government proceedings.

I’d like to broaden the scope of my editorial experience through projects that call for someone with versatile skills, an eye for detail and an interest in wide-ranging subjects.

My background includes working as a newspaper reporter; writing and editing freelance articles for magazines and newsletters; and work in government communications for the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.

I’m the author of O-bon in Chimunesu, published by Arsenal Pulp Press in 1996.  It’s a creative nonfiction account of the former Japanese Canadian community in Chemainus, B.C. The book won the Hubert Evans non-fiction award in 1997.

I’m currently writing and editing a memoir about my late niece, Michelle Lang. She was the Calgary Herald reporter killed while embedded with troops in Afghanistan in 2009.
