Susan Sanford Blades

I am a creative writer and editor living on the traditional territory of the Lewengen-speaking people, now known as the Esquimalt and Songhees nations (Victoria). I’ve been working as an editorial assistant for an academic psychology journal, Theory & Psychology, since 2006. At that job, I edit all accepted manuscripts for APA style and I proofread all issues prior to publication. I also teach an essay writing and APA style course entitled Academic Writing and Critical Thinking through Royal Roads University. My main love is creative writing. My debut novel, Fake It So Real, was published in fall 2020 by Nightwood Editions. It won the 2021 ReLit Award in the novel category and was shortlisted for the BC and Yukon Book Prizes’ Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. I am currently finishing up a second novel, chapters of which have been published in The Malahat Review, Gulf Coast, and shortlisted for the 2022 Masters Review Novel Excerpt Contest.
