Science Writer and Editor, specializing in Biology

Personal Biography

A scientist turned editor, I have a knack for explaining complex science in clear prose.

I have a degree in evolutionary biology, and I work on topics ranging from emerging microbes to cancer biology to nanotechnology. I specialize in helping scientists whose first language is not English prepare journal articles for publication, simplifying language to communicate research results.

I like to work on a variety of topics, and so I also edit academic reports for universities and proofread books on gardening, cooking, and fungi.

I have worked in science communication for 10 years. Before turning freelance in 2011, I worked at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, where I wrote exhibits, brochures, and web copy on the beauty of biodiversity for a general audience.
