Personal Biography | Jillian has been an academic and non-fiction editor for more than two decades. She has a PhD in ancient literacy and oral tradition (UVic, 2010) and a master’s degree in publishing (SFU, 2001) and has taught courses in editing, writing and publishing history at various universities around British Columbia. She was an editor in the legislative drafting office for the Province of British Columbia for six years and is currently the senior policy analyst in that office. She co-owns and co-operates Shoichet Editorial with her brother Aaron Shoichet, an editor and translator in Germany. Jillian was the substantive editor for the Canadian Mental Health Association’s BC journal Visions and an academic copy-editor for UBC Press for many years. |
